An Alternative Structural Story of Two Towers

Baidu International Building is the world's tallest building with Internet technology as main business. The core tube layout of the two towers and the interlacement of workspace and social space have brought tremendous challenges to the structural design. Structural engineers from CCDI have adopted a series of technical measures to control the imbalance of stiffness, mass and torsion such as using steel truss to strengthen the stiffness of high-rise floors in and out and better adapt to structural deformation, which can provide a comfortable space like a low-density park in high floors and prevent the typhoon influence in Shenzhen geographic climate effectively. The pioneering structural design of these two towers provides a solid mechanical guarantee for future high-density intelligent office buildings.
